Worms Reloaded is the latest and most polished game in the long Worms franchise. It contains new weapons, new rules, and new strategies that are required for success.
Worms Reloaded New Weapons
There are several new weapons - some of which are useful while others are almost completely ineffectual. The Bunker Buster and Super Bunker Buster weapons provide a 100% accurate attack from the sky and even burrow a short distance to hit their targets.
The Termites, ostensibly a similar weapon, burrow in erratic ways, do little damage, and require a Worm to be near the target to even have a chance of impact. The weapon Worship drops a little statue that takes two health points away from every enemy Worm and adds to health points to every friendly Worm at the end of each turn.
Unfortunately, Worship can't kill Worms at 1 health point and the effect ceases if the statue is destroyed in the course of the match.
Worms Reloaded New Rules
There are several changes from previous Worms games. Most notably, all of the grenade type weapons no longer have a bounce setting and appear to be on maximum bounce. The explosion generated by explosive weapons also seem to be slightly generous on the radius side - meaning that one can get the maximum damage from an explosive attack even if the enemy worm is not directly next to the point of impact.
Speaking of maximum damage, the maximum level has been lowered to 45 from 50 on the two most common weapons: the Bazooka and the Grenade. This means that killing an enemy Worm with these weapons is significantly more difficult: since Worms start with a default health of 100, it takes three hits instead of two to defeat an enemy Worm with a Grenade or a Bazooka.
Worms Reloaded Strategy Guide
The new damage maximums on the Grenade and the Bazooka significantly decrease their killing power, which means that finding other ways to kill Worms is more important than in other Worms games. Some of these ways include using the Grenade or Bazooka to knock a worm onto a mine or oil barrel, or into the water. The Shotgun still does 25 damage and fires twice, so using it can still defeat an enemy Worm in two turns.
However, in most game modes, Shotgun ammunition is limited. The AI is as accurate as ever on the highest levels, but often blunders when attempting to use the new weapons. In addition, it tends to miscalculate the value of crates - often taking one when even when it places their Worm in a dangerous position, or using teleport to snag a crate even though the Worm taking it will ultimately fall to its death. This makes "dark side" hiding strategies more useful when a level contains frequent crate drops.
There are many new weapons, new rules, and new strategies for Worms Reloaded. Finding one's groove is half the fun, and hopefully this guide has illuminated enough information to give you a good start.
