Perfectionism can be an extremely difficult flaw to combat. It can cause delays, prevent accomplishments, and cause those who suffer from it to fail to appreciate the greatness of their triumphs. This can represent the dark side of a Virgo's personality, but these characteristics are not limited to just Virgo. Individuals of all signs who have problems with perfectionism could make good use of this advice.
Virgo Personality
A perfectionism-based Virgo personality typically has many aspects. One is the "control freak" aspect, which can cause Virgos to only feel comfortable when they are in charge of everything. Another is a "never good enough" aspect, in which nothing ever measures up to the Virgo's own impossibly high standards. Behind the control aspect is a desire to prevent pain. Behind the "never good enough" aspect lies painful insecurity, similar to that experienced by many Libras.
The Virgo Man
The Virgo man can be fastidious, disciplined, and organized. He loves planning events, and frequently finds himself in situations involving managing or leading others. Yet, at the same time, he can be an impersonal leader. He leads not for the roar of the crowd, but instead, for the security in knowing he is in control, which can make the Virgo man always nervous.
The Virgo Woman
The Virgo woman can be controlling and even sometimes manipulative. Many enjoy gossip. Others enjoy repeated cleaning, and can be "neat freaks." Others engage in extreme dieting. The common thread is that many are unhappy with themselves and so they constantly have to push themselves to be perfect. This perfection is always out of reach, so the Virgo woman can find herself in a vicious cycle of unhappiness.
Virgo Love
When a Virgo is in love, he or she can be more nervous than happy. Many do not enjoy the unpredictability of a new relationship and dislike allowing others to start planning how their lives are going to go. They may only feel comfortable if they pick the restaurant or the movie. This could potentially put them at odds with those who have stubbornness issues, like some Tauruses.
It has often been said that "the perfect is the enemy of the good." Perfectionism can cramp efforts to do good work, and it can cause problems in relationships. It can even serve as a placeholder for a deep-seated self-hatred. The feeling of enjoying being in the driver's seat in a relationship or in a work setting may never completely go away, but if one is vigilant, it can be managed.
